Your clinical system is only useful if your team can access it — even without a signal.

Community nurses, home-visit coordinators, and outreach workers face a challenge that no amount of cloud infrastructure solves on its own: unreliable connectivity. Rural roads, basement flats, care homes with no wifi — the places where patients most need support are often the places least served by a reliable mobile signal.

ProtoFlex Go is our offline-capable mobile module, designed so that community teams can keep working regardless of connectivity — and so that every data point finds its way back to the clinical record automatically, the moment a connection becomes available.

How It Works

The flow is simple by design:

  1. Download the day's worklist — before heading out, a community worker pulls their allocated visits for the day into the ProtoFlex Go app on their mobile device.
  2. Work through visits offline — at each visit, they check in, record the relevant data, and check out. Everything is stored securely on-device.
  3. Auto-sync on reconnection — whenever a data connection is available, completed visits upload automatically to the main ProtoFlex system. No manual action required.

There is no re-keying, no end-of-day data entry marathon, and no risk of records being lost because a spreadsheet wasn't saved or an email wasn't sent.

Tracking progress through the day

As visits complete and sync, the clinical team back at base can see a worker's progress in real time. Completed visits appear in the system as they upload — giving coordinators visibility without needing to chase via phone, and flagging immediately if a scheduled visit hasn't been checked in on time.

Why It Matters for Rural and Community Services

For teams supporting patients with chronic conditions — COPD, heart failure, rare diseases, post-operative recovery — regular community visits are often the practical alternative to asking a patient to travel to a clinic. But this model only works if the data generated in the field flows back into the clinical record reliably.

ProtoFlex Go removes the friction that undermines community care programmes:

  • No re-keying — data entered at the point of care is the record. It doesn't get transcribed by someone else later, removing a significant source of error.
  • Rapid data entry — configurable visit forms mean workers see only what's relevant for their cohort, keeping interactions efficient and focused.
  • Complete audit trail — each visit is timestamped at check-in and check-out, creating a reliable record of when care was delivered.
  • Reduced administrative burden — coordinators spend less time chasing confirmation that visits took place and more time managing exceptions.

Paired with Patient Engagement

ProtoFlex Go works alongside ProtoFlex Engage, our patient-facing engagement tools. For patients with chronic conditions in rural areas, the combination is compelling: community workers conduct regular visits using Go, while patients continue to log symptoms and feedback between visits through Engage. Both data streams feed into the same ProtoFlex record, giving the clinical team a complete picture of how a patient is doing — not just a snapshot from the last time someone knocked on the door.
