NHS Patient Management Software — Haemoglobinopathy

Thalassaemia Patient Management Software

ProtoFlex is building a dedicated NHS patient management system for thalassaemia services — covering transfusion programme tracking, iron chelation adherence, haemoglobinopathy registry submission and shared-care coordination, on the same platform as our sickle cell solution.

In Development — Register Your Interest

The ProtoFlex thalassaemia solution is currently in active development. Clinical leads and service managers who register interest now will have the opportunity to contribute to co-design and become early adopters.

NHS Thalassaemia Patient Management Software

A condition-specific digital management system for NHS thalassaemia services — giving haematology teams the tools to manage transfusion programmes, monitor adherence and coordinate care across specialist and local settings.

Transfusion Programme Tracking

Scheduling, records and patient communication for regular transfusion cycles — giving clinical teams a real-time view of programme status, upcoming appointments and patient-reported outcomes between transfusions.

Iron Chelation Adherence Monitoring

Patient-reported outcomes, adherence check-ins and clinician-side alerts for iron chelation therapy — one of the most common causes of preventable complications in transfusion-dependent thalassaemia.

Annual Review & Registry Submission

Structured data capture and export aligned to National Haemoglobinopathy Registry requirements — reducing manual burden on clinical teams and ensuring audit compliance without additional administrative work.

Shared-Care Coordination

Connecting specialist thalassaemia centres with local services for complex patients — a single platform view across care settings, reducing the information gaps that drive inconsistent care and avoidable hospital contact.

Paediatric to Adult Transition Pathways — Planned

Support for the transition from paediatric to adult thalassaemia care is planned as part of the co-design process. If you work in paediatric haematology or transition services, your input would be especially valuable — get in touch.

Why NHS Thalassaemia Services Need Dedicated Digital Tools

Thalassaemia major requires regular blood transfusions and iron chelation therapy for life — a high-intensity care model that demands close clinical monitoring, strong patient engagement and coordination across specialist teams and local services.

These are the same core challenges ProtoFlex has already addressed in sickle cell disease: fragmented data, poor adherence visibility, manual registry burden and disconnected care between clinical settings. The thalassaemia solution applies the same proven platform to the specific workflows of transfusion-dependent care.

Most NHS thalassaemia services currently manage this complexity across EPR systems, local databases and spreadsheets — with no unified view of adherence, transfusion status and registry obligations. ProtoFlex changes that.
